Was Missing starlet Laila Khan a spy for LeT?

It has come to light that Laila Khan, a Pakistani aspiring starlet who has been missing since last year, recced Mumbai in 2011 for the terrorist LeT outfit.
The actress’s Mitsubishi Outlander was allegedly used to ferry explosives for a bomb blast at the Delhi High Court in September 2011. Laila was accompanied by her sister Azmina Patel, her stepfather Asif Sheikh and her family friend Parvez Iqbal Tak, who allegedly had links with LeT militants.
The Mitsubishi Outlander, found in Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir, with the registration number MH02 AY 7867 was registered under Laila’s name.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) tipped off the J&K police that a car carrying explosives was on its way to launch a terror attack in Mumbai. Based on this tip off, this car was then traced to a garage in Kishtwar, which Tak had rented for Rs 800 a month.
Three years ago, Laila had married Munir Khan, a member of the Bangladeshi terror outfit HUJI. Director Rakesh Sawant (Rakhi Sawant’s brother), who was working on a project with Laila about three years ago, has also revealed that she would often receive mysterious visitors. “When I went to Laila’s house for a meeting three years ago regarding my film, I saw a Kashmiri sitting with weapons in her bedroom. I had even gone to Igatpuri to talk to her about my film, where I saw a similar gathering. When I asked Laila about them, she said they were her relatives,” said Rakesh.
It is possible that Laila, along with her family might have been killed by the LeT men, as they were carrying crores of money with them.
Who is Laila Khan?
Laila Khan aka Sara had debuted opposite Rajesh Khanna in film Wafaa in 2008. However, in January, 2011 disappeared along with her mother and three siblings.

Salman Khan in property controversy

Bollywood’s ad boy Salman Khan is embroiled in another controversy. According to former IPS officer and social activist YP Singh, actor Salman Khan has allegedly violated the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act.
It seems that Salman Khan bought a flat in a building named ‘The Address’, situated at the Bullock Cart Road, which is between the lane of Mannat and Taj Lands End at Bandstand, Bandra. The power of attorney, however is in Salman`s father, Salim Khan name.
The official papers of the flat reveal that Salman Khan has paid Rs 20 crore for the flat whose market value is just Rs 4 crore.
“It is clear that the extra price, which has been given is said to acquire a non-FSI component of the building, which cannot be sold. There is a dedicated parking at the 11th floor with a personal swimming pool. On paper, the property is only 1079.95 square feet, but actually the space occupied (that of the flat) is around 8000 square feet, which is deceiving,” said Singh while talking to the media.
Singh further added, “As per the law, common areas like lobby, garden, swimming pool, parking and fire refuge area cannot be owned by an individual, but can be utilised by all the members of the building. It would also be a case of money laundering, as Khan, by paying such a huge amount of Rs 20 crore might have converted all the black money into white.”
“This requires a detailed investigation and once it is done, it will be clear whether it’s money laundering or a case of environment protection act or Violation of Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act. The Police and Municipal authorities should indulge into the probe for the same,” concluded Singh.

Shanghai Has Poor First Day, Rowdy Rathore continues Dream Run

Shanghai had a poor opening as its collectins were just around Rs3-3.25 crore nett. There were good expectations from this Ehraan Hashmi movie, with good promotion and a decent cast. Shanghai has been released on nearly 1000 screens across India.
The film managed average collections at some high end multiplexes of metros but in most places the audiences gave it a miss and preferred Rowdy Rathore which continued its dream run.
The film was a disaster in places like CP Berar and Bihar where the film has been sold to independent distributors.
Rowdy Rathore had an excellent first week of around 77 crore nett. The film has had phenomenal collections in many circuits. The Gujarat belt contributed over 10 crore, 45% more than Housefull 2. The film was very steady on its 8th day especially at mass centres.
Ishaqzaade dropped in week, losing out to Rowdy Rathore, having added nearly 1.50 crore to its total. The four week total is around 46 crore nett. SUPER HIT

DON 2 BEAT THE BODYGUARD

Don 2 opened to a good response on Friday, picked up at high-end multiplexes on Saturday and ended it’s first weekend with a spectacular Sunday.
On Sunday, most multiplexes were sold-out for the entire day, including the morning shows. Even single-screens, where collections fell on Saturday, showed a slight jump in business on Sunday.
Weekend collections including non-hindi versions are below
  • Friday – 14.5 crores
  • Saturday – 15 crores
  • Sunday – 18 crores
  • Weekend total – 47.5 crores
It’s the third biggest weekend after Bodyguard and Ra One in 2011. The weekend business is comparable to last year’s Dabangg, but when the final collections come in, Don 2 could fall just short of Dabangg by a few lakhs. Don 2 benefited from higher ticket prices, 3D and regional versions. While Dabangg as a film had tremendous appeal at smaller centers. and non holiday
Monday update coming in an hour, stay tuned!

Don 2: Highest first day collection for a non-holiday Friday

Don 2 has collected Rs 48 crores in its opening weekend. However the PR mechanism is trying to devise new tags just to showoff that the film is breaking new records.
The year 2011 has come to an end with Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2, amongst the most anticipated releases of the year. One cannot exactly say that Bollywood in 2011 had 'saved the best for last' with the extreme response that the film has received. Audience response varies from awesome to awful for the film.

Fear and Shamelessness in Karachi: Round 9

Like a nagging wife, MQM has returned to the forgiving arms of PPP after some couples therapy when the trial seperation proved too painful. The PPP accuses MQM of nagging, non-stop criticism and a lack of intimacy in the relationship, while the MQM retorts with not feeling loved enough.
As the MQM rejoins the government for the 9th time, the orgy of violence and hundreds of innocent dead in the city have now been forgotten. Their blood has kept up the ultimate taboo in Pakistan, that of Bhai, off news conferences and beyond the realms of discussion. Leaving only the unspeaking dead who shall soon be fading to black in the collective state of amnesia that is our media.
The season for fear and shamelessness is back in Karachi.
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain Monday directed Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan to retake charge as Sindh Governor, Geo News reported.
MQM had quit the PPP-led government on June 27, 2011 in centre and Sindh.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan had also tendered his resignation from the office of Governor Sindh. The strife between MQM and PPP-led government had been triggered by the government’s decision to defer elections for three Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seats last month.
As a result, the MQM leadership had decided that it was no longer possible for the party to continue functioning as part of the Pakistan People’s Party-led coalition government.
Meanwhile, President Zardari in reaction to today’s MQM decision said this was a positive sign for reconciliation in Pakistan politics.
Speaking to Geo News, PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said that his party knew this would happen and stated that MQM ministers should also return to their posts.
He added that it was difficult to sit in the opposition and the PPP and MQM should stop acting and not play games with the people.
MQM had also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the deferment of June 26 scheduled Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) elections for the Karachi seats.

Why did I bought an iPhone 3G instead of an Android?

I bought an iPhone 3G.  It motivated me to write this post to share my vision of why I decided that a smartphone considered old model was better for me than any Android released recently.
Applications: I have a library of them
I am a user of the iPod Touch since the first model. it is a media player that delivers what I need a media player and that's why I bought it at the time. And since Apple very humbly allowed third-party programs that were installed on it, I was buying application after application in your shop, to further extend its functionality. And that made me what I have today: a library with exactly 165 programs.

If I buy an Android, would have to look for similar programs to those who already have iOS and they already do what I want on the iPod Touch. Apart from the games, which are most of my library. I potentially would have to spend a few more caraminguás buying those I love most in the Android Market to have the same experience as you would with an iPhone 3G.

I do not doubt that you would find most of them since the store's application platform already has a huge amount of developers and applications ported to it. But the prospect of having to re-purchase similar software or pay again for one I already have does not encourage me one bit.

Cheap price and low depreciation
An iPhone 3G cost close to two thousand dollars when it was released in Brazil. It was a surreal price to pay in a smartphone at the time. And to be honest, it's still a bit surreal today. But behold, the TIM decided to make a promotion a few months ago and sold the iPhone for real one thousand, that's when I saw the opportunity, I waited a bit and bought the unit.

This argument may lose some strength when you realize that there Androids as good in terms of functionality, and the same price or cheaper than the iPhone 3G, also being sold unlocked. But because of the diversity of Android handsets in the market, I could not have a retail price as good as the resale price of an iPhone.

I say this because I know that as an Apple product, the iPhone has a depreciation rate lower than other devices. As a test, I tried to sell (actually sold to me, thank you Mr.. Kiss Philip) on Twitter for my 3G $ 700 real, 300 less than I paid. In less than 10 minutes had at least three people interested in buying it.

And considering that they were only 2 weeks of use, was (in fact Philip was) very generous in offering it for 700 dollars. And continuing the argument of the price, there's another that goes hand in hand with it.

An iPhone is coming 5 to 4 to buy?
Have chosen an iPhone instead of the Android was not the only thing that amazed my friends. Have chosen an iPhone 3G iPhone in place of 4, much more recent and powerful, might have caused as much or even more in some awe of them, probably more fans of the brand.

To put it simply, I chose the 3G because I am not crazy. As a member of this vital industry of tech blogs know that the probability of giant Apple launched a new iPhone model this year is quite large, after all, the iPhone is now 4 for over a year on the market and this is the time Apple usually updates the model. And with a new iPhone, the iPhone's price will fall 4 and I'll consider your purchase.

Yes, the price may not fall so because the rate of imports from Brazil, but will definitely lower enough so that I can ask a friend to bring me an iPhone unlocked from the outside 4. This price does not fall enough for me to buy it here in Brazil itself, but chances are it will not happen. Until then, however, there is no reason not to use a phone that I like it, which leads me to the next argument.

Interface I've seen this before ...
A good portion of Android have a peculiarity, which can be both bad and good: each different line of Androids that manufacturers may have created a custom interface running on the system. Be the MotoBlur, TouchWiz, Timescape, or who knows what other, each can display portions of the Android way it believes appropriate for their customers.

I was already familiar with the interface of the iPod Touch, so for me the iPhone would be easy to use. Although there are some changes in terms of features and screen resolution, the interface is consistent for all devices iOS. I will not have trouble finding the standard applications, configuration options, or button which turns off the screen because they will be (mostly) in one place.

I'm not saying I could not get used to different interfaces of the Android. I have a very steep learning curve with most of the interfaces for the Android has already tested some smartphones, and tablets with the system. But between having to learn new ways for the same options, use a different keyboard and having to get used to the interfaces of the manufacturers or not, I preferred the simplest: no.

He is good (for me)
At the end of the day, this should be the most important item when choosing a cell phone. Can I test a lot of devices for years here in TB and whenever I do this you will read my honest opinion and sincere about them. You can if you wish to rely on this opinion to choose a phone, but what really matters is what works specifically for you.

If a Nokia C7 falls in your budget and already have all the functions you need, fuck the fact that it uses a mobile operating system that can fall into disuse. If you want a phone that can be used in the shower, or a Motorola Defy Galaxy XCover can make you happy. If you prefer a faster machine with an excellent camera, the Samsung S Galaxy II is here. The manufacturers will always say that their phones are the best at everything, but is not they who should determine what is best for you.

The iPhone 3G may be a dated example, may not have the best camera on the market or better screen all iPhones, but I balance all factors before deciding to buy it and these items are not weighed that much. Do not get me wrong, I do not think the iPhone 3G a perfect smartphone. He has several defects, such as battery life tolerable for those who like to use 3G all the time, the fact that Apple only sell the 8 GB models today, which restricts the amount of data I can put it, among others.

But I do not need a high end smartphones, or expensive to have status, or the fastest on the market or has a camera capable of recording in 1080p. I need a smartphone that fits in the use I plan to do it. And to make the choice of a device that has become as essential to people's lives, this attitude should always be the default.

Instead, we have fanboys from all sides feuding and trying to prove that there is a platform (or smartphone) that is the best in everything you do and who reigns supreme and sovereign over all others.

I disappoint them all, but this so-called perfect platform simply does not exist.

Shah Rukh insists on being called 'The King' in Don 2

There are other Khan superstars. But 'King Khan' is Shah Rukh. Make no mistake about that.

In the first-look for Don 2 which released this week Shah Rukh is referred to as 'The King', an appellation that even Akshay Kumar tried to hijack when some time ago his PR machinery began planting stories calling the Khiladi 'King Kumar'.

Shah Rukh seems to be back to being the King. The star gets his wish, and how! TheDon 2 trailer which is seen along with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara has wangled the blurb The Return Of The King. This was the title that Nariman Irani producer of the original 1978 Don with Amitabh Bachchan had planned for their proposed sequel.

Shah Rukh and the makers of the new Don set their heart on the 'King' caption which has now been used in the trailer.

Says a source, "After all Shah Rukh has been called King Khan for most of his career. Here in the sequel to his Don, the subtitle 'The Return Of The King' seemed just right. Producer Ritesh Sidhwani went to great lengths to get the title."

When contacted Ritesh Sidhwani says, "Yes, we've used the blurb The Return Of The King for the trailer of the film."

Producer-director Arbaaz denies that his brother's in the sequel

Actor-producer Arbaaz Khan has rubbished reports that his brother Sohail will be the part of the 'Dabangg' sequel.

"'Dabangg' sequel starts mid next year and doesn't have my brother Sohail acting in it like some newspapers reported," Arbaaz posted on his Twitter page.

According to some reports, Sohail had expressed his desire to be part of the movie and since then, his name had been considered for the sequel.

However, Arbaaz, who has been on a high ever since 'Dabangg' -- his debut production -- turned out to be a blockbuster, will now take the reins as the director for the sequel of the masala action movie.

'Dabangg', directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap, was set in the dusty, rugged, rural milieu of Uttar Pradesh in which Salman played a corrupt cop called Chulbul Pandey.

Post the Mumbai blasts, here's what Amitabh Bachchan wants

Amitabh Bachchan has urged people to act as policemen and suggested initiating an anti-terror training programme that would help them to fight terrorism and protect themselves.

The actor said he would be the first one to join the anti-terror training programme. His comments come in the wake of the three serial blasts at Opera House, Zaveri Bazar and Dadar West that killed 17 people and injured 131 in Mumbai Wednesday (July 13).

"Each one of us will have to become a 'policeman' .. look, notice, observe, feel, sense the danger in every step and report," the 68-year-old posted on his Twitter page.

"Yes the security forces will always be needed, but when vulnerable, let each one of us know that we are being watched and monitored. There are many vulnerable nations in the world ... knowing this they have made each citizen of theirs a watch dog, a fighting force!"

"Let there be private or state professional units that take up the job of training citizens in anti-terror acts... make it compulsory. Make that training programme mandatory for every citizen, every national of the country ... I shall be the first to join," he posted.

Director Rohit Shetty feels criticising the force doesn't help at all

Director Rohit Shetty takes a dim view of people criticising Mumbai Police after the three blasts at Opera House, Zaveri Bazar and Dadar West two days ago, and believes people should instead lend their support to the department to make it perform more effectively.

"Every time the Mumbai Police become the punching bag, saying 'Police didn't do anything'. The problem is at a higher level and not only Mumbai Police," Rohit said.

"For once, we should have a different point of view and help the Mumbai Police. They are already under so much pressure and we give them more. For once, we should help them and see what changes come," he added.

Rohit said: "Have we ever thought that if the police headquarters is shut down for a day, what would be the condition of the city? If any day you dial 100 and they say today is a holiday, think where would you go?"

Rohit, known for directing comedies like the 'Golmaal' franchise, is coming out with a cop movie 'Singham', which is set to release July 22.

Check out her hot new ad for PETA

Just like her co-star Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao is a proud vegetarian. And she's making it known - the actress has shot for a new pro-vegetarian advertisement for animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India.

The 30-year-old looks casual in a pair of shorts and a clingy T-shirt that reads 'Powered by Tofu' in the ad, through which she proclaims: "I Am Amrita Rao, and I Am a Vegetarian".

"I call being vegetarian the Wow Rao diet. Wow because I know that being vegetarian is the best thing I can do for myself, the animals and the environment," Amrita said.

"Pulses can get pulses racing, while corpse cuisine slows you down. Kick the meat habit and you'll look and feel better than ever," added the actress, who starred in films like 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Vivaah'.

Amrita joins a growing list of celebrities like Lara Dutta, Pamela Anderson, Shahid Kapoor, R. Madhavan and Anil Kumble, who have teamed up with PETA to promote a healthy vegetarian diet.

She also asked French officials to postpone a ceremony honouring her

Aishwarya Rai, who was to receive an honour from the French government in New Delhi on Wednesday (July 13), requested officials to postpone the ceremony in the wake of the Mumbai blasts. The actress also maintained a minute's silence to mourn the deaths.

"Thank you all for being here. The current situation has really disturbed and shocked all of us. I thank the French embassy for being supportive and considering the sensitivity of the situation. They have been kind to consider me and my family's request to postpone the celebration till another time. We as Indians can't go ahead and celebrate in such a situation," Aishwarya told reporters at the event.

Mumbai was hit by three blasts at Opera House, Zaveri Bazar and Dadar West that left at least 20 people dead and over 100 injured Wednesday evening.

The event for honouring Aishwarya with "Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters" was being held in New Delhi, but her heart was with those affected by the tragedy.

"The terrible blasts have shook us, but we shall stand strong. They (terrorists) should get it straight that we won't let them succeed. You cannot break us, we all believe in deep strong Indian spirit. You will not get the better of us. God bless us and Jai Hind," added Aishwarya, who was accompanied by her hubby Abhishek Bachchan.

The 37-year-old's appearance was highly anticipated as it was her second public outing ever since the announcement of her pregnancy. She did not disappoint by being away from shutterbugs, and looked extremely graceful in a yellow and parrot green sari, with the natural glow of an expectant mother.

French Ambassdor Jerome Bonnafont said: "The terrible series of blast has shocked all of us. It seems the time is not right. I pay my condolence and want the Indian people to know that the government of France is with them."

'Don 2' first look launch and 'Murder 2' success party called off

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani were ready with the first look of 'Don 2: The Chase Continues' and Mahesh Bhatt was set to celebrate the success of 'Murder 2' Wednesday (July 13) evening, but the filmmakers cancelled their plans following three bomb blasts in Mumbai, at Opera House, Zaveri Bazar and Dadar West which killed over 20 people.

The launch of the first look of the Shah Rukh Khan-Priyanka Chopra starrer 'Don 2' was to be held 7.45 p.m. onwards at Cinemax, Andheri West, while the success party for Mohit Suri's directorial 'Murder 2' was scheduled for 9 p.m. at the J.W. Marriot hotel in Juhu.

The first blast took place at Zaveri Bazar at 6.59 p.m, followed by a second blast at Opera House at 7.05 p.m, and the final explosion took place at Dadar West at 7.17 p.m., causing panic and chaos in the city.

The incessant rains added to the dilemma of city dwellers.

However, a few print and electronic journalists had already gathered at Cinemax, Andheri West to catch a glimpse of 'Don 2', one of the most awaited movies this year.

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani was there too, but he approached the mediapersons, and said: "Due to the blast, we have decided to call off the event."

No further date for the event has been issued as yet.

The 'Murder 2" success party, which was expected to be attended by lead pair Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandes, apart from director Mohit Suri, other crew members and celebrities from the film industry, was also cancelled as the news of the blasts flashed everywhere, and a high alert was issued.

In New Delhi, Aishwarya Rai requested officials of the French government to postpone an award ceremony where she was supposed to be honoured with a "Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters".

However, Aishwarya appeared before the media along with her actor-husband Abhishek Bachchan and observed a minute-long silence mourning the death of the people in the blasts.

Crores on the line to guess the newest Bachchan's gender

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's baby is due in November 2011, and the the buzz surrounding the new Baby B is just getting crazier and crazier. Apparently, punters in India are involved in betting on the sex of the baby, and the amount involved involves crores of rupees.

Reportedly, the bet is 70 paise per rupee on a baby girl and 80 paise per rupee on a baby boy. Allegedly, the amount put up in the betting pool has reached the figures and proportions that India-Pakistan cricket matches generally do.

It seems that Aishwarya's doctor in Mumbai has been flooded with questions about the baby, particularly its gender. Mumbai-based Dr Kuldeep Prasad is believed to be very upset by the intrusion as well as reports of the betting on the baby's gender.

Aishwarya and Abhishek have not reacted to the reports as yet.

Rumour has it that she's separated from hubby Bobby Mukherjee

Has yet another Bollywood marriage hit the dust? We hear that Mahima Chaudhary's marriage to architect Bobby Mukherjee is apparently going through a rough patch.

It seems that, in the recent past, Mahima and Bobby have been having several arguments. His work requires him to spend a lot of time travelling and Mahima apparently feels that this does not allow him enough time with her and their four-year-old daughter Ariana.

Supposedly, Mahima and Bobby have been trying to work things out but there's been no improvement in their situation. Some sources even say that Mahima has moved out of their home and shifted to her mother's house in Lokhandwala, Mumbai.

Mahima began dating Bobby soon after she borke up with tennis player Leander Paes. Mahima and Bobby got married soon after in 2006 in Las Vegas. Bobby had been married earlier while it was Mahima's first marriage. She said at the time that when she initially met Bobby, marriage had not been part of the plan.

The actress, who made her debut with Subhash Ghai's 'Pardes', all but disappeared from Bollywood after marrying Bobby and the birth of her daughter.
